What is non-ablative laser skin resurfacing and how does it work?

Non-ablative laser resurfacingis a process of skin rejuvenation with laser energy without damaging the epidermis.

In this case, the laser energy is converted into thermal energy. Controlled thermal stimulation stimulates the extracellular matrix and induces collagen formation.

By interacting with the water molecules contained in the skin cells, the radiation has a tonic and regenerating effect on the skin and starts the process of its renewal.

The water content in the epidermis is approximately 10-15%, in the deep layers of the skin it is much more - 70-75%. Because of this, during the non-ablative laser rejuvenation procedure, the effect of the beam on the epidermis is minimal.

Passing through the manipulator, the laser beam is divided into microbeams in the form of a network and forms closed columns of coagulation in the deep layers of the skin, located at an equal distance from each other. During the session, the skin cells around the columns are exposed to heat, which activates the metabolism and promotes cell renewal. Old cells are destroyed, being replaced by new ones, due to which it is possible to achievelifting effect. The skin gains elasticity, even tone, looks younger.

Indications and contraindications

The non-ablative laser resurfacing procedure is ideal for:

  • elimination of visible age-related changes in the skin - wrinkles, folds, sagging, dryness;
  • removing age spots;
  • improvement of complexion;
  • correction of keloid scars;
  • fight acne etc.

Laser rejuvenation is not performed if the patient has any of the following contraindications:

  • oncological diseases;
  • inflammatory processes in the skin;
  • worsening of a chronic disease;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • lack of immunity, etc.

The decision to perform a laser rejuvenation procedure is made by a specialist after examining the patient.

How is non-ablative laser resurfacing performed?

Before the session, the skin in the treated area is cleaned, in some cases peeling is performed. A cosmetologist uses a laser beam on the surface of the skin in the problem area, bringing the manipulator closer to the skin.

During the session, the skin does not experience discomfort, thanks to the cooling system built into the manipulator. Because of this, laser rejuvenation does not require additional anesthesia of the treatment area.

Session results

After 1-2 days after the laser treatment, the condition of the skin improves significantly. Get an even and fresh shade, lost elasticity returns, small wrinkles and age spots gradually disappear. The active renewal of skin cells has a tonic and tightening effect, due to which the patient looks 5-10 years younger.

In terms of effectiveness, the procedure is in no way inferior to the results of plastic surgery. Safety, lack of surgical intervention and recovery period after surgery make this method extremely popular with both women and men.
